Luke Pg 1

Red Letter is Jesus’ words as recorded in the four Gospels, the Book of Acts, and Revelation (KJV).  Jesus’ red letter words are preceded by grey commentary stating (a) the place where he spoke, and (b) to whom or of what he was speaking.  Text in black is a complement to his words or actions.
Recognizing that the Father and the Holy Ghost are also God, and that their recorded statements are equally true, Red Letter includes their holy words.  Their quoted words are bolded.

Chapter 2

In Jerusalem’s temple, to his parents

49How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

Chapter 3

At the baptism of Jesus, after the Holy Ghost descended

The Father spoke

22Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Chapter 4

In the wilderness, to Satan

4It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

8Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

12It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

In Nazareth’s synagogue, on the Sabbath, from the book of Esaias

18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

To all those in Nazareth’s synagogue

21This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

23Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

24Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. 25But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; 26but unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. 27And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

In Capernaum, in the synagogue, to an unclean devil

35Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

In a desert place, to the people

43I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

Chapter 5

At the lake of Gennesaret, to Simon

4Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

10Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

In a certain city, to a man with leprosy

13I will: be thou clean.

And immediately the leprosy departed from him 14And he charged him to tell no man:

but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

To a man taken with a palsy

20Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

To the scribes and Pharisees

22What reason ye in your hearts? 23Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? 24But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins,

To the sick of palsy

I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

At the receipt of custom, to Levi

27Follow me.

In Levi’s house, to the scribes and Pharisees

31They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. 32I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

34Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? 35But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

36No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. 37And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. 38But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. 39No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
